This training is designed for therapists in agency, private practice, and school settings, who are interested in learning more about Neurodiverget child clients (with main focus on Dyslexics, ADHDers and Austistics) in play therapy. This training will focus on identifying ways neurodivergent children present in play therapy as well as ways to best serve this population. Additionally, participants will enhance their knowledge of play therapy techniques and additional support systems that should be put in place to support this population

In this live training for play therapists, participants will:

  • Define 5 terms often used to describe Neurodivergent play therapy clients including: Neurodiverse vs. Neurodivergent, Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria, Pervasive Demand Avoidance(Pervasive Drive for Autonomy).

  • Name the 3 extra sensory systems and identify 1 example of each in a play therapy situation.

  • Identify at least 1 other member of a client's “team” in addition to play therapy.

  • Identify how these outside services will enhance the effects of play therapy.

Amanda (LPC, LCPC, RPT), prior to becoming a therapist, spent 13 years working with children in educational and home settings as a preschool teacher, para-professional, and Nanny. Through her years of working with children she became inspired to help children and families who were in emotional distress and needed encouragement, guidance, and hope. Amanda has specialized training in neurodivergent identities. This includes ADHDers, Dyslexics, Autistic individuals, P.A.N.D.A.S/P.A.N.S, Sensory Processing Disorder and Sensory Processing Differences. Amanda uses knowledge of sensory processing to also help victims of trauma, both children and adults.

This training will not be recorded. 

For in-person attendees, please dress comfortably, bring a water bottle, snacks, and anything else you need to feel comfortable in a classroom setting for the duration of our training.

To receive CE credits, participants must attend the full presentation and must complete the post-presentation evaluation.

Ensemble Therapy is an Approved Provider for the Association for Play Therapy (APT), Approved Provider 23-706. Ensemble Therapy is an approved provider endorsed by an international organization and therefore trainings quality for the 50% CEs mandated by the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC) for LPC and LMFT. Play Therapy credit is available to mental health professionals and graduate students in a mental health program.

It is the responsibility of the attendee to verify whether CE credit offered by the Ensemble Learning Center meets the regulations of the participant’s licensing/certification board.
