Our Why

How Ensemble Learning Came to Be

When it comes to addressing the mental health crisis facing our children, it’s time we come together — as parents, caregivers, teachers, counselors, family members, and trusted adults — so we can better support the next generation.

The truth of the matter

In the Austin area, we have a shortage of providers who specialize in developmentally appropriate treatment for children under the age of 10 years, which is merely one of the many barriers that our community faces to access mental health support. We’re here to counter this reality that too many families face both near and far. Ensemble Learning was born from our desire to bridge the gap that currently exists for child-focused treatment.

Through our programming at Ensemble Learning, we aim to share best practices for supporting children, teens, and their families. We seek to connect people in the central Texas mental health community and beyond, increasing the capacity of therapists, school counselors, and adults who support children. With each of our offerings, we aim to amplify opportunities for community healing and wellness.

OUR INSPIRATION IS TWO-FOLD

  • We wish to build connections within the mental health and educational communities and increase the capacity of those who work with children.

  • We seek to equip caregivers with the necessary resources to deepen the connections and healing potential that is possible at home.

Get to know the Ensemble team

Ensemble Learning is the brainchild of the therapists at Ensemble Therapy. As self-proclaimed big nerds who love to learn, the culture at Ensemble Therapy is one of continual learning and growth. Ensemble Therapy is a mental health collective with licensed clinicians and Registered Play Therapists™ on staff, and every day we are learning something new from each other. In an effort to translate the magic that happens with the continuous learning environment we've created, the idea for Ensemble Learning was born.

The therapist leading the charge is our founder, Jaclyn Sepp, MA, LPC-S, RPT-S™, NCC, RYT® 200. Jaclyn has spent time in Austin ISD as an Educator and School Counselor, in addition to Adjunct Professor at the University of Texas Graduate School of Social Work. She is an active learner and reader who enjoys staying up to date on evidenced-based practices in our field.

Our team of therapists and educators has a giant toolbox of therapeutic approaches and interventions. Our intention is to connect within a learning community that shares this knowledge and empowers the families, caregivers, and professionals who shape our children's futures.

Ultimately, what we want you to know is…

  • We believe in the importance of lifelong learning.

  • We believe in collaborative, experiential learning.

  • We utilize an applied neuroscience framework to guide us.

  • And of course, we play — because you can learn a lot by playing!

So let’s learn and let’s play!

WHOLE CHILD. WHOLE CITY.
