This presentation will explore the integration of play therapy interventions in the treatment of childhood anxiety, with a focus on collaborative work with parents to enhance treatment outcomes. Participants will examine practical strategies for addressing various anxiety presentations, including generalized anxiety, separation anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive symptoms. Emphasis will be placed on strengthening the therapeutic alliance with both the child and caregiver, utilizing evidence-based play therapy approaches, and fostering parent involvement to promote long-term emotional regulation, resilience, and successful management of anxiety symptoms.

In this in-person training for play therapists, participants will:

  • Identify at least three play therapy interventions that can be used to address common anxiety presentations in children.

  • Explain how parent collaboration enhances play therapy outcomes for children experiencing anxiety.

  • Apply at least two play therapy strategies that integrate caregiver involvement to support emotion regulation in anxious children.

Amy Pezzotti, LPC-S, RPT-S™

Amy earned her MA in Psychology from Texas A&M University and her MA in Professional Counseling from Texas State University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor and a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor. In 2014, Amy opened her private practice in Buda, Texas, where she works with children, adolescents, and parents. Her expertise includes supporting families in managing various presentations of anxiety, including OCD, separation anxiety, and generalized anxiety. Amy is passionate about working collaboratively with children and their caregivers to help them build resilience, regulate emotions, and reach their goals in a supportive and strengths-based environment.

This training will not be recorded.

To receive CE credits, participants must attend the full presentation and must complete the post-presentation evaluation.

Ensemble Therapy is an Approved Provider for the Association for Play Therapy (APT), Approved Provider 23-706. Ensemble Therapy is an approved provider endorsed by an international organization and therefore trainings quality for the 50% CEs mandated by the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC) for LPC and LMFT. Play Therapy credit is available to mental health professionals and graduate students in a mental health program.

It is the responsibility of the attendee to verify whether CE credit offered by the Ensemble Learning Center meets the regulations of the participant’s licensing/certification board.
