Training Objectives
Discuss common symbols representing love, loss, and connection and their interpretations in sandtray play therapy.
Identify how clients use symbols to convey personal narratives in sandtray play therapy sessions.
Practice observing the building process in a non-directive manner, then professionals will take turns creating their own worlds to explore and process personal themes of love and loss within their trays.
Melissa Fleming, M. Ed., LPC-S, RPT-S™, CCST-T
Melissa received her Bachelor’s in Applied Learning & Development in 1999 and a Master’s in Educational Psychology in 2004, both from The University of Texas.
She spent seventeen years working in schools and twelve of those years as an elementary counselor. Melissa opened her own practice in 2016 and currently works with children, their parents, and adults in Buda, Texas.
She is a Clinical Certified Sandtray Therapist-Trainer, a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor (RPT-S™), and LPC-Supervisor. Melissa has served as President of Austin SandTray Association, as well as Capital of Texas Counseling Association and public relations for the Texas Sandtray Association board.
Good to Know
This is an in-person training and will not be recorded. Please dress comfortably, bring a water bottle, snacks, and anything else you need to feel comfortable in a classroom setting for the duration of our training.
To receive contact hours, participants must attend the full presentation and complete the post-presentation evaluation.
Ensemble Therapy is an Approved Provider for the Association for Play Therapy (APT), Approved Provider 23-706. Ensemble Therapy is an approved provider endorsed by an international organization and therefore trainings quality for the 50% CEs mandated by the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC) for LPC and LMFT. Play Therapy credit is available to mental health professionals and graduate students in a mental health program.
It is the responsibility of the attendee to verify whether CE credit offered by the Ensemble Learning Center meets the regulations of the participant’s licensing/certification board.
