In this self-paced course on ethics and APT best practice guidelines in play therapy, you'll explore ethical decision-making models, understand the latest research and guidelines, and apply best practices through interactive case studies.

Clinicians will engage in a reflective activity to examine their own ethical values and biases, fostering self-awareness and empathy. Case conceptualizations will also present ethical dilemmas involving cultural and value-based conflicts, prompting clinicians to explore and develop culturally sensitive and ethically sound solutions.

In this self-guided presentation on ethics in play therapy, you'll learn and be able to:

  • Describe current research, recommendations, and guidelines for play therapy practice.

  • Apply licensing rules, code of ethics, and best practices to play therapy scenarios, and evaluate personal professional practices accordingly.

Sarah Kelton (she/her/hers) is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).

Sarah earned her Bachelor's Degree in Applied Learning and Development and her master's degree in Counselor Education from the University of Texas at Austin.

Sarah is a Registered Play Therapist (RPT). She utilizes many modalities including play therapy techniques, bibliotherapy, and sand-tray therapy to meet the child at a developmentally appropriate level. Sarah is an original Austinite and loves photography, rock climbing, and hiking with her husband and dog.

This is a pre-recorded, self-directed online training. You will receive a login into our online course portal to begin the training on enrollment.

This training will provide 3 non-contact CE's and is designated as a "recorded webinar." 

To receive CE's, participants must attend the full presentation and complete the post-presentation assessment and evaluation.

Ensemble Therapy is an Approved Provider for the Association for Play Therapy (APT), Approved Provider 23-706. Ensemble Therapy is an approved provider endorsed by an international organization and therefore trainings quality for the 50% CEs mandated by the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC) for LPC and LMFT. Play Therapy credit is available to mental health professionals and graduate students in a mental health program.

It is the responsibility of the attendee to verify whether CE credit offered by the Ensemble Learning Center meets the regulations of the participant’s licensing/certification board.
