Implementing Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) in the Playroom with Caregivers

Presented by Shelley B. Coleman MA, LPC-S, RPT™

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is an evidence-based treatment for children with emotional and behavioral disorders that emphasizes changing parent-child interaction patterns. This presentation aims to teach you the basic skills that the PCIT therapist teaches the caregiver. Prior knowledge of PCIT is not required to participate in this training.

These skills are behaviorally specific and highly focused on the relationship between the child and the caregiver. In this presentation, you will learn how to teach and coach these skills to caregivers who can then implement them in play and practice with their children.

Though PCIT is a treatment for children who are ages 2-7, you will also learn adaptations for older children and special populations.
